平顶链结构十分简单，仅一块两侧带铰圈的链板与一要销轴。两侧铰圈的一侧与销轴固定联结，称为固定铰圈。另一侧处在里档的铰圈与销轴滚动联结，称为活动铰圈。活动铰圈与与销轴构成了平顶链的铰链。因平顶链使用时经常要与液态物质接触，所以链板材料用不锈钢制造居多，当然也有用工程塑料来制造的。钢制平顶链的铰圈是卷制而成的，所以铰圈是有缝的，圆度不易保证。载荷大时还会被拉开，是一处薄弱环节。随着工装塑料的发展，工程塑料平顶链也忆开发出来。由于工程塑料的平顶链链板是浇铸成型的，所以链板的结构可以按需要采用较为复杂的形状。因为链板上都有加强肋，所以能提高链条的强度。双弯加强肋铰郑式直行平顶链的强度并不比钢制的简单铰卷式平顶链低。

应用

板链输送机适用于形状不规则物品的重载输送。链条选用空心大辊子带附件链条，在两侧同步链条的附件上用板状构件连接使输送方向形成连续的平板，因而运行平稳。该机与链式或辊筒输送机配合使用可实现转角输送。
